First time configuration of Yunohost
After you installed Yunohost, you cannot use immediately, you first need to configure it.
The domain name
You need to enter the domain name that you prepared for the Yunohost server. Press the correct radiobutton and fill-in the domain name that you bought from your registrar.
Beware: you cannot easily change this domain name...
Admin
Most important step: Configure your Yunohost administrator account. And that means defining the username and entering the password.
And mark this well: This username and the password will also be used if you need to login to the server via Putty. Yunohost is securing the server by restricting access to the root account, you will not be able to use the root account anymore. So remember to lock the username and the password in a vault, preferably in a password manager.
Don't worry about other questions, this is the core.
Perform the Diagnosis
Before configuring any application, first perform the site diagnosis. Depending on your preparation, the first run will take some time. Yunohost will perform many test, vaying from the core infrastructure that you will use, to domain registration, firewall setting, open ports, email services running etc.
This may be the most important part of configuring Yunohost, because preferably all checks are positive. In the first run, however, there will be errors, especially in the area of email and DNS. Don't worry yet, we will fix those errors in a minute. And to do that, I suggest to have a browser open with the Yunohost tab and a second tab with you domain registrar dashboard.
Here is how to fix the Domain Name settings in Yunohost.
If now all is well, or almost well, you are ready to start installing services on your VPS.
